If that is your router, the the Orbi is best put in AP mode. You refer to a "security feature". That could mean anything. Is it something that the Orbi also provides? Is it real? Or one of those sales pitches that hardware makers put on their boxes?Marriott human resources
The simplest way to check if AP mode would do anything about "lags" would be to conduct your own experiment. Couple of options, 1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.
If the modem is in bridge mode, then you can definatly run the Orbi in Router mode which is preferred. If you had the modem in router mode, then you could either run the Orbi in Router or AP mode using option 2 or 3 as suggested. For you current configuration, router mode is needed for the Orbi. No issues with disconnects, just the lag is bothering me Did you have this problem prior to Orbi? If yes, then Orbi won't make it any worse in either Router or AP mode.
If the problem starts to show up with Orbi in the picture, then you might have a configuration issue to look into. It's the same hardware and firmware. The difference boils down to CPU impact to handles additional features when it's in Router mode, i. Disney Circle, Armor, etc. One reason that you might want it in Router mode is that you need either Disney Circle or Armor features that's only available in Router mode. Otherwise, AP mode is a safe and a better choice because it's simpler.
I don't think there's a single answer here; it really depends on your preferences. Same if you want to be able to use the Orbi app for management.
There used to be an issue with the satellite attempting to establish a backhaul connection over ethernet when it powers on if there were any devices plugged into a satllite LAN port. I think that's been resolved, but I'm not sure. Then, once they're stable, connect any wired devices you want. You could also update to the latest firmware 2. Unfortunately there's rarely an easy fix for router issues. What you need to do is insure that all of the router requirements that are listed in the setup instructions and in my Tech Guide, link in my sig are met. This is up to you to figure out or get help with from your provider. Besides, no one wants to be responsible for messing with your LAN.
And, there are just some routers that don't play nice with the MicroCell because they are configured to work specifically with a provider based on their needs and not necessarily the MicroCell. Cellular Booster Guide by OttoPylot.
Nothing has worked, tried everything in the technical manual and hours on phone with both TW and ATT. It's as though the Technicolor won't Port Forward. Unfortunately not all routers will play nicely. Usually because they are configured to work with a specific ISP. This is between you and TWC. I'm having the exact same issue with the exact same router on TimeWarner. They upgraded their network in the area, old modem-router combo quit working.
Swapped it out for this one, and no more MCell. How about Block Fragmented Packets disabled? That's a requirement that you didn't list in what you've tried. We've seen this type of behaviour numerous times in the past when TWC has done network upgrades. One time it was an improperly configured network switch that a very kind TWC engineer diagnosed and fixed. The requirements for the MicroCell are relatively simple but it's up to the ISP and their hardware to ensure that your connection still works after an upgrade.
I don't use the DMZ. Wireless Forum. Purchased new Technicolor T The customer service rep who helped me set up put it in "bridge mode" apparently usually reserved for people connecting an external router and it wouldn't allow my other wifi devices to connect - smart TV, smartphone, streaming media players, etc.
However the Microcell worked great! Once the agent took it out of bridge mode, everything but the Microcell worked.
I've tried resetting both devices, talked w att customer service I'm reading stuff about making sure the proper ports are open, setting a secure static port for the Microcell, etc. I went to my IP webpage and started to look around but found it very confusing.

Ever since, my devices that use wireless will have their connection fail for seconds intermittently. Sometimes I'll go an hour without this issue, other times it'll be every few minutes. When browsing, I know it's occurred because I'll get one of those DNS probe messages Chrome likes to shoot out, then seconds later the wifi connection on my laptops I have 3 will get the yellow connectivition warning, and then a few seconds later, it'll go away, then a few seconds later, Chrome will auto refresh whatever I was trying to connect to and it all works again.
Ethernet connections remain rock steady. The problem: Digging around the Technicolor settings, I did finally find the section that allowed you to enable Bridge Mode, but it doesn't appear to have done much. Its wifi still broadcasts. If I plug my own router into ethernet port 1, it does resolve and the network it broadcasts does provide internet, but it's incredibly slow, and does not appear to be working correctly I can't connect to the default IP address of the router, and everything seems to still point to the Technicolor as the router.
I've obviously done something wrong. If I plug my desktop directly into any of the ethernet ports, it two has its speed slowed down to a crawl. So, i've gone ahead and disabled Bridge Mode and am now hoping someone here can tell me where I've gone wrong and what the proper procedure might be. Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this.
